Erekat: Lieberman‘s decision on Palestine National Fund "revokes" Israel‘s recognition of PLO

JERICHO, March 18, 2017 (WAFA) – Saeb Erekat, secretary general of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), expressed his rejection of the Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman‘s declaration that the Palestine National Fund is a "terrorist organization."

Upon his meetings with Fernando Gentilini, UN Special Representative for The Middle East Peace, and China‘s Ambassador to Palestine, Erekat said that Lieberman‘s decision means Israel revoked its recognition of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).

He called upon Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to clarify his government‘s stance and explain whether it revoked its recognition of the PLO.

On the other hand, Erekat said that the intensified activities of Israeli settlements on the ground, especially in East Jerusalem, is a part of the Israeli plan to destroy the two-state solution and replace it with the Apartheid system.

The Palestine National Fund provides monthly financial aids to families of Palestinians who were killed or wounded in the conflict with Israel.
