Palestine’s UN ambassador urges compelling Israel to end its violations

NEW YORK, January 7, 2017 (WAFA) – Palestine’s ambassador to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, Friday urged members of the Security Council to compel Israel to end its violations against the Palestinian people in the territories under its occupation.

In letter number 600 to Security Council member states since September 2000 outlining Israeli violations, Mansour said that “with its adoption of resolution 2334 (2016), we look to the Security Council to continue to call for compliance with the law and finally compel the occupying power (Israel) to end all its violations against our people in order to tangibly contribute to the de-escalation of tensions and a reversal of the destructive trend on the ground with the aim of saving the two-state solution and the prospects for peace.”

He said that Israel must be held accountable for all of what he said as its war crimes against the Palestinian people.

“For all of these war crimes, acts of State terrorism and systematic human rights violations being committed against the Palestinian people, Israel, the occupying Power, must be held accountable and the perpetrators be brought to justice,” said Mansour in his letter to the president of the Security Council and member states.
