Increase in Gross Domestic Product in 2016 Q2, statistics indicate

RAMALLAH, September 28, 2016 (WAFA) – Preliminary estimates at constant prices showed an increase of 3.9% in GDP in Palestine during the second quarter 2016 compared to the 2nd quarter 2015, according to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS).

It said GDP in the West Bank increased by 3.3% and by 5.8% in the Gaza Strip compared to the second quarter 2015.  PCBS said an increase of 1.7% in GDP was reported in the second quarter compared to the first quarter 2016 at constant prices, and the base year is 2004. 

GDP for the second quarter 2016 at constant prices was $1,550.8 million for the West Bank and $484.4 million for the Gaza Strip.

Gross Domestic Product Per Capita

GDP per Capita for Palestine at constant prices was $448.7 during the second quarter 2016. An increase of 0.9% was witnessed compared to the second quarter 2015.

As for the West Bank, GDP was $582.6 at constant prices during the second quarter 2016, with an increase of 0.6% compared to the second quarter 2015.

In the Gaza Strip, GDP was $258.6 during the second quarter 2016, with an increase of 2.3% compared to the parallel quarter 2015.
