Newspaper Review: Cabinet ‘Ready’ to Resign for National Unity Government

RAMALLAH, February 10, 2016 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies Wednesday focused on the Palestinian government’s announcement, during its weekly meeting on Tuesday, that it was ready to resign to make way for a national unity government.

The three dailies printed a picture of hundreds of Palestinians participating in a protest outside Afula hospital, where hunger striking Palestinian detainee Mohammad al-Qiq is being hospitalized, in support of his cause.

Al-Quds added in this regard that al-Qiq’f family called for Palestinians to protest en masse in solidarity with al-Qiq.

Al-Ayyam said an Israeli settler was stabbed and injured by a Palestinian youth outside Neve Daniel illegal settlement, southwest of Bethlehem.

Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida added in this regard that Israeli forces blockaded Nahhalin town.

Al-Quds and al-Ayyam added that two Palestinian girls were detained from Jerusalem and Hebron purportedly for possessing knifes.

Highlighting Fatah Hamas meetings in Doha, al-Ayyam quoted Hamas official Ism‘ail Radwan as saying that ongoing talks with Fatah party on achieving national reconciliation are “creative” and “responsible”.

Al-Quds said Fatah and Hamas officials agreed to work “silently and seriously” to achieve reconciliation.

Al-Quds said Secretary-General of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Saeb Erekat, said Palestinian and Israeli officials will meet in Jerusalem this week to discuss security issues.

Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida said the Israeli Knesset approved in first reading a law, which clamps down on Israeli NGOs ]that criticize Israeli policies against the Palestinian people.[
