Israeli Forces Detain 29 Palestinians from West Bank Districts

JERUSALEM, February 4, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli forces detained overnight 29 Palestinians mostly during predawn detention raids across several West Bank districts, said Palestine Prisoner’s Society and security sources.

Israeli forces detained 13 Palestinians from Jerusalem district, nine others from Jenin district, four others from Hebron district, another from Jericho district, another from Tulkarem district and another from Ramallah.

Israeli police detained 13 Palestinians, including at least seven minors, during predawn raids into several Jerusalem towns and neighborhoods, including Ash-Sheikh Jarrah.

Police detained 13-year-old Hamza ‘Abdullah, Mohammad Farhan and Qassam Shehadeh, who come from Qalandiya, during a raid into Ash-Sheikh Jarrah.

Police detained ten other Palestinians identified as Khalid Abu Ghoush, 15, ‘Abed Abu Saymeh, 15, Mousa Darwish, 20, ‘Ali Bader, 22, Mousa and Mohammad Dari, 17, Mohammad Jaber, Mohammad Ghrouf, Jihad al-Za‘tari, 14, Sa‘id Rukn and Nour Shalabi, 18.

Meanwhile in the northern West Bank town of Qabatiya, near Jenin, forces detained seven Palestinians during a large-scale raid into the town.

The detainees were identified as Mu‘tasem and Tareq Kmail, Mu’min Abur-Rub, Ahmad Nazzal, Tha’er Abu Ghurab, Ahmad ‘Abdul-Jalil and Husam Dahoun.

This came as Israeli forces blockaded the northern West Bank town, home of three Palestinians who fatally wounded an Israeli police officer and wounded another in a gun and stabbing attack outside Damascus Gate entrance to Jerusalem’s Old City.

In addition to the seven, forces also detained a secretary of Fatah movement, Hussam Dhun, 38, after breaking and ransacking his house in the Jenin village of Fandaqumiya and Ahmad Zakarneh, a Qabatiya resident, as he was trying to cross into Jordan at Allenby bridge.

Meanwhile in the southern West Bank district of Hebron, forces detained four Palestinians identified as Khalil ‘Ayyad, Hani Masalmeh, Muhammad al-Fakhuri and Dhuha al-Baw, 18.

After going missed for three days, it transpired that Dhuha was detained while she was in Yaffa city.

It is worth noting that Dhuha’s brother, Hassan, 23, a law student who had been shot dead by Israeli forces during clashes in the Hebron town of Halhul on November 13.

On the other hand, al-Fakhuri was detained after being shot by a live round fired by Israeli forces as he was driving his motorcycle in Hebron city.

This came as forces broke into and ransacked several houses belonging to Az-Za‘amreh family in Halhul.

In Jericho district, forces detained a Palestinian during a predawn raid into Aqbat Jaber, a refugee camp to southwest of the city.

The detainee was identified as Ahmad Ibrahim, 26.

In the meantime, forces detained Taha ‘Ilaimi, a resident of Tulkarem, as he was attempting to cross from Jordan at Allenby bridge.

Troops stationed at Al-Container checkpoint, north of Bethlehem, detained a Palestinian from the Ramallah village of Beit Rima.

The detainee was identified as Mahmoud al-Rimawi, 34, who had been detained for over four years in Israeli detention centers.
