RAMALLAH, January 31, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli troops Sunday shot dead a Palestinian youth at Beit El checkpoint, northeast of Ramallah, after he reportedly opened gunfire and injured three soldiers, according to medical sources.
The sources said 29-year-old Amjad Sukkari from the village of Jama’in, to the south of Nablus, was fatally shot by Israeli troops at the checkpoint, after he allegedly opened gunfire towards them, injured three soldiers, including two seriously.
Sukkari’s body was handed over to the Palestinian side, and was transferred to nearby Palestine Medical Complex.
At least 164 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire since the outbreak of unrest in the occupied Palestinian territories in early October 2015. Over 16,000 others have been reportedly injured.
