RAMALLAH,
May 17, 2015 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies highlighted on
Sunday an Egyptian court’s ruling which sentenced ousted President Mohammad
Morsi, along with around 10o others to death.
The
court accused Morsi and the other Muslim Brotherhood officials of taking a role
in a mass jailbreak during January 25th uprising in 2011.
The
dailies also highlighted President Mahmoud Abbas’ visit to the Vatican, where he
attended the canonization of two Palestinian nuns who lived in the Holy Land in
the 19th Century and were native Arabic speakers.
Al-Quds
said the Israeli navy targeted Palestinian boats with gunfire, while sailing
offshore Gaza on Saturday.
Al-Ayyam
said a Palestinian married couple were injured after Israeli settlers pelted
them with stones near Bethlehem on Saturday.
Al-Hayat
al-Jadida said former Israeli President Shimon Peres is currently acting to
convince the FIFA not to suspend Israel’s membership in the international
association. FIFA is set to convene in Munich this month at the request of the
Palestinian Authority to examine suspending Israel’s membership, due to its
non-compliance of international law in the OPT.
Al-Quds
said the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon condemned recent Israeli settlement
plans in the occupied West Bank.
Al-Ayyam
said U.S. Special Forces recently assassinated an Islamic State (ISIS) official
and arrested his wife in Syria.
Al-Hayat
al-Jadida said the governments of Jordan and Germany called upon the
international community to escalate efforts in order to revive peace talks in
the Middle East.
Al-Ayyam
said a recent Israeli report indicate that the Shiite Lebanese group Hezbollah
is plotting naval attacks in the region in the upcoming months.
