Six Live Bullet Injuries, Dozens of Suffocation Cases during Bethlehem Clashes

BETHLEHEM, July 26, 2014 – (WAFA) – Six Palestinians were injured with live ammunition, while dozens others suffocated early Saturday during clashes with Israeli forces in the vicinity of Bilal Bin Rabah mosque to the north of Bethlehem, according to medical sources.

Thousands of Palestinians took part in a march in solidarity with besieged Gaza population who has been under heavy bombardment for the past nineteen days. The protest started at Manager Square and ended in the vicinity of Bilal Bin Rabah mosque, known also as Rachel’s Tomb.

Clashes erupted with dozens of Israeli troops stationed at the checkpoint and ready to fire. They fired live ammunition and tear gas canisters at demonstrators, shooting and injuring six and causing dozens others to suffer from tear gas inhalation.

Palestinian Red Crescent medics said that one protestor, who was shot with three bullets; in the leg, chest and abdomen, suffered from heavy bleeding. He was transferred to hospital for treatment.
