LONDON, September 18, 2025 (WAFA) – Amnesty International has called on states, companies, and both public and private institutions to immediately end their political, economic, and military support for Israel, which the organization says is enabling the continuation of genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, as well as the illegal occupation and system of apartheid against all Palestinians.
“It is beyond time for states, public institutions, companies, universities and other private actors to end their lethal addiction to economic gains and profits at all costs,” said Agnès Callamard, Secretary General of Amnesty International. “Israel’s prolonged unlawful occupation and decades of apartheid have required in-depth and sustained support through economic relations and trade. Twenty-three months of relentless bombardment and an ongoing genocide have demanded endless supplies of weapons and surveillance equipment, backed by privileged trading relations and states and companies prepared to ignore the indefensible.”
Amnesty’s briefing comes on the anniversary of the September 18, 2024 UN General Assembly resolution that demanded Israel end its occupation of Palestinian territory within 12 months. That resolution followed a July 2024 advisory opinion by the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which found that Israel’s occupation of Palestinian land is unlawful, and its treatment of Palestinians violates international prohibitions on racial segregation and apartheid.
The organization argues that global political and economic systems have not only failed to hold Israel accountable but have actively supported or facilitated the conditions that sustain what Amnesty describes as crimes under international law.
Among the measures called for in the briefing are a range of state-level actions aimed at addressing corporate complicity in human rights violations. These include banning companies that contribute to or profit from Israel’s violations of international law, introducing effective legislation and oversight mechanisms, halting purchases and public contracts linked to implicated firms, and implementing divestment strategies.
Amnesty International named 15 companies it has identified as complicit in Israel’s ongoing violations. These companies span various sectors, including defense, surveillance, infrastructure, and utilities.
Among U.S. arms manufacturers, Boeing and Lockheed Martin were cited. Israeli defense firms named include Elbit Systems, Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI). In the surveillance and technology sector, the briefing highlights China’s Hikvision, the U.S.-based Palantir Technologies, and Israel’s Corsight.
Other implicated firms include infrastructure and transport companies such as Spain’s Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles (CAF) and South Korea’s HD Hyundai. Additionally, Israel’s state-owned water company, Mekorot, was listed under the utilities sector.
The organization urged its global network of members and supporters to demand an immediate end to what it called the "political economy underpinning Israel’s international crimes," emphasizing that “human dignity is not a commodity.”
