Israeli forces detain families returning to homes in Jenin refugee camp

JENIN, July 30, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces detained several residents of Jenin camp on Wednesday evening as they attempted to return to their homes, according to local sources.

They reported that soldiers held families trying to reach their homes in the al-Ghabz area of Jenin camp and the surrounding buildings.

Earlier today, gun-toting soldiers had evacuated residents from several buildings, including the Sama complex, and homes in Tal'at al-Ghabz, turning them into military outposts.

It then redeployed its soldiers there after residents attempted to return and inspect the homes.

Photos and videos documented by residents of several homes that the occupation army briefly evacuated before returning to them showed extensive damage to the homes and to the residents' property.

The occupation has continued its aggression on the city of Jenin and its camp since January 21, which has so far resulted in the killing of nearly 44 Palestinians, with numerous injuries and detentions.

According to Jenin Municipality statistics, as of June, the army had completely destroyed nearly 600 homes in the camp. A new demolition operations are currently underway, targeting an additional 95 homes.
