Israeli forces close several checkpoints and tighten restrictions northwest of Ramallah

RAMALLAH, October 22, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces closed the Nabi Saleh gate and the gate at the Atara checkpoint northwest of Ramallah on Thursday morning, while tightening military measures at the Aboud checkpoint, causing severe traffic congestion.

Local sources said Israeli forces subjected Palestinians to stringent searches at the Aboud checkpoint, forcing thousands to take lengthy detours to reach their destinations amid severe movement restrictions.

The sources noted that the Nabi Saleh gate serves as a main access point for the village of Nabi Saleh and the western Bani Zeid villages of Beit Rima, Deir Ghassana, Kafr Ein, and Qarawat Bani Zeid, as well as Salfit city and several surrounding villages. Its closure therefore obstructs movement between these areas.

Israeli forces also tightened restrictions at the Ein Sinya checkpoint as part of measures restricting movement in areas northwest of Ramallah.

Towns and villages in the area continue to face repeated checkpoint closures and military restrictions that obstruct entry and exit and make it increasingly difficult for residents to travel and reach their workplaces.
