UPDATE: Jordan and Qatar condemn Israeli closure of Jerusalem Fund and Endowment offices in occupied Jerusalem

AMMAN, April 29 (WAFA) – The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemned on Tuesday the Israeli occupation authorities’ decision to shut down the Jerusalem Fund and Endowment, a Palestinian institution operating independently in Jerusalem, as reported by Jordan’s Petra news agency.

The Ministry described the closure as “a continuation of Israel's systematic policy of imposing new realities that undermine the Palestinian presence, and erase the Arab identity of occupied Jerusalem.”

Ministry Spokesperson Ambassador Sufian Qudah reaffirmed the Kingdom’s firm rejection of the Israeli government's ongoing actions targeting international and civil society institutions operating in the occupied Palestinian territory, reported Petra. These actions, he stressed, “represent a blatant attempt to strip the Palestinian people of their fundamental rights, including the rights to life, education, and the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state on their national soil.”

Qudah urged the international community to fulfill its legal and moral obligations by compelling Israel's to immediately halt its violations and aggressive practices against the Palestinian people and their institutions, particularly in occupied East Jerusalem, according to Petra.

Meanwhile, Qatar also condemned the Israeli occupation's closure of the Jerusalem Fund and Endowment, considering it a new escalation against the Palestinian people and their national institutions.

In a statement issued this evening, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that Israel’s systematic policies aimed at Judaizing Jerusalem and undermining the steadfastness of its residents are part of the ongoing genocide being committed against the Palestinian people.

The Ministry called on the international community to bear its ethical and legal responsibilities and compel Israel to comply with international legitimacy and resolutions.

Qatar reaffirmed its unwavering and steadfast position in support of the Palestinian cause and the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, in line with international law and the two-state solution. This includes the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the 1967 borders.
