RAMALLAH, February 25, 2025 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) reported that acts of repression have notably escalated in the Israeli Ofer Prison, continuing the policy of suppression and incursions, which is one of the most prominent systematic strategies employed against prisoners in the occupation’s prisons.
This reached its peak during the genocidal war and the ongoing and widespread aggression.
PPS revealed some details of the repression measures based on testimonies obtained by PPS lawyers in recent weeks, specifically regarding the repression measure that took place on the evening of February 16.
The report indicated that the repression measures resulted in varying degrees of injury among the prisoners after heavily armed occupation forces stormed several sections of the prison, using police dogs, grenades, and brutal physical assaults.
Additionally, the cold weather has further exacerbated the prisoners' suffering, as the prison authorities continue to refuse to provide adequate clothing and proper bedding. PPS noted that the harsh cold is being used as a tool of torture against prisoners, along with a range of other systematic measures that fall under the crime of torture.
Previously, PPS have highlighted how the prison authorities have turned prisoners' injuries into a means of further torment. During visits to several injured prisoners, they confirmed that they endure continuous pain due to the lack of proper medical care, exacerbated by the medical crimes systematically practiced by the prison administration, compounding their suffering, particularly due to the severe cold.
