TULKARM, February 1, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces escalated their attacks on Tulkarm refugee camp and the city for the sixth consecutive day, continuing to demolish homes and terrorize the local population.
According to eyewitness reports from the camp, Israeli forces intensified their demolition efforts in the camp's internal neighborhoods, deploying a heavy-duty bulldozer (D10) and demolishing additional homes and shops, particularly in the Sawalma and Hammam streets, leveling them to the ground.
The forces also raided dozens of homes, destroying their contents, and created openings in the walls to access neighboring houses, causing panic among the residents, especially children, the elderly, and women. Many families were forced to flee their homes under the threat of gunfire.
In addition, Israeli forces continued to seize high-rise buildings within and around the camp, turning them into military outposts and sniper positions. This, combined with the widespread presence of infantry units patrolling the streets and alleys, has further heightened the tension.
Tragically, today, 51-year-old resident Wahid Omar Madi was killed by a sniper’s bullet to the chest in the Qaqoon neighborhood. Local sources reported that Madi was struck by a bullet when he opened his door and fell to the ground, bleeding for nearly an hour and a half as Israeli forces blocked Red Crescent emergency crews from reaching him.
As the violence persists, more families have been forcibly displaced from their homes, fleeing the worsening humanitarian crisis caused by the ongoing assault.
The bombardment has destroyed the camp’s infrastructure, leaving the residents without access to essential services like water, electricity, internet, and communications. There is also a severe shortage of food, medical supplies, drinking water, and infant formula.
In Tulkarm city, the Israeli forces continued their siege of both the Thabet Thabet Government Hospital and Al-Isra Specialized Hospital, seizing buildings around them and obstructing emergency medical services.
Additionally, Israeli forces have seized commercial and residential buildings in the city center and eastern and western neighborhoods, turning them into military strongholds and sniper positions.
Infantry units continue to patrol various areas of the city, raiding homes, searching alleys, and stopping vehicles and pedestrians, subjecting them to identity checks and physical abuse, as witnessed in an incident earlier today in the city’s eastern district.
