Israeli authorities force Jerusalemite resident to self-demolish home southeast of occupied Jerusalem

JERUSALEM, July 13, 2026 (WAFA) - Israeli occupation authorities on Monday forced a Palestinian resident to demolish his own home in the town of Umm Tuba, southeast of occupied Jerusalem.

The Jerusalem Governorate said that Israeli occupation authorities forced Ali Khalil Abu Tir to self-demolish his home, or else crews from the Israeli occupation municipality would demolish it and obligate him to pay the exorbitant demolition costs. The municipality also imposed an 80,000-shekel fine.

The house was home to seven people, who were left without shelter following the demolition.

The move comes as part of the Israeli policy of self-demolitions targeting Palestinian residents of occupied Jerusalem, under which homeowners are forced either to demolish their homes themselves or bear the costs of demolition and imposed fines.
