JERUSALEM, July 13, 2026 (WAFA) - Israeli forces on Monday removed the rubble of a Palestinian home in the East Jerusalem town of Silwan, after the owner was forced to self-demolish it under orders from the Israeli occupation municipality.
The Jerusalem Governorate said that crews from the Israeli occupation municipality, accompanied by occupation forces, raided the site of Jerusalem resident Mohammad al-Shamaliyeh’s home in Silwan and carried out bulldozing work under the pretext of completing the demolition.
Al-Shamaliyeh and his son Khaled had previously been forced by the Israeli occupation municipality to self-demolish their 150-square-meter two-apartment home under the pretext that it had been built without an Israeli-issued permit.
The Israeli occupation municipality continues to carry out additional demolition operations under various pretexts, even after homeowners have been forced to self-demolish their properties, with the aim of imposing further fines and exorbitant costs on Palestinian residents of Jerusalem as part of a policy designed to place them under financial pressure and hardship.
