GAZA, July 13, 2026 (WAFA) – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) announced on Monday that it had facilitated the transfer of seven released detainees from the Karm Abu Salem crossing to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement, the ICRC said it also facilitated contact between the released detainees and their families and helped reunite them noting that since 2023, it has facilitated the transfer of more than 2,500 released detainees in this manner.
It stressed that it has been unable to access Palestinian detainees in Israeli detention facilities since October 2023, renewing its call for the occupation authorities to provide information on the fate and whereabouts of all detainees and to grant it access to visit them and assess their conditions.
The ICRC emphasized that all detainees must be treated humanely in accordance with international humanitarian law, held in acceptable conditions, and allowed to communicate with their families.
It pointed out that many Palestinian families are anxiously awaiting any news about their detained loved ones amid concerns for their health and safety, affirming that it continues its dialogue with the Israeli occupation authorities with the aim of resuming visits to all Palestinian detainees.
