BRUSSELS, July 13, 2026 (WAFA) -- The European Commission convened the second meeting of the Palestine Donor Group in Brussels on Monday, bringing together representatives from 65 delegations to launch a new international initiative aimed at supporting Gaza's early recovery and advancing the Palestinian Authority's reform agenda.
During the meeting, participants launched the Team Gaza Initiative, which will provide €883.6 million in coordinated funding for early recovery efforts across multiple sectors, including water and sanitation, debris removal, waste management, healthcare, energy, agriculture, and food systems.
The initiative includes contributions from the European Commission, the European Investment Bank, the World Bank, and several countries, including Spain, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Germany, Norway, Finland, Italy, the Netherlands, France, Japan, Switzerland, Sweden, and Belgium. Australia and Canada have also expressed interest in joining.
The donor meeting also secured additional financial commitments through the EU's PEGASE mechanism, with EU member states signing €41.7 million in new contribution agreements. The funding comes in addition to the European Commission's previously announced €310 million commitment through PEGASE for 2026 and 2027.
The European Commission said the Team Gaza Initiative is intended to coordinate international support for restoring essential services and infrastructure in Gaza while complementing broader international efforts to support the territory's recovery. It also highlighted progress made by the Palestinian Authority in implementing governance, fiscal, public administration, social protection, education, and infrastructure reforms under its reform agenda.
