Minister of Health describes health conditions inside Gaza's hospitals as catastrophic

HEBRON, Tuesday, May 14, 2024 (WAFA) – Minister of Health Majed Abu Ramadan said that more than 80% of hospitals and health care centers in Gaza are out of service as a result of the occupation’s continued aggression against the Strip since October 7.

He added, in statements to Voice of Palestine, that the health situation in Gaza is very catastrophic, depriving citizens of their right to obtain treatment and medicine,

Abu Ramadan further called urgently for international intervention to save the health system in the Strip.

He also stressed that the Ministry is continuing its work with all international health organizations to secure the minimum amount of medicines and medical supplies, and the necessary materials to operate hospitals,

The Ministry is also working to send medical delegations to treat difficult cases in the Gaza Strip, in light of the occupation’s failure to allow a sufficient number of wounded individuals to leave abroad to receive the necessary treatment.

He added that the Ministry has developed a plan to gradually rebuild the health sector, starting in its first stage with the work of specialized health teams, then establishing mobile clinics that reach the sick and injured where they are, in addition to establishing field hospitals, and in the final stage the health buildings damaged as a result will be rehabilitated and restored.

Regarding Palestine’s participation in the World Health Organization conference on the twenty-fourth of this month, Abu Ramadan explained that a detailed report will be presented regarding the ongoing Israeli violations against the health system in the Gaza Strip.
