RAMALLAH, August 24, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli authorities have barred two members of the European Parliament from entering the occupied Palestinian territory, Israeli media reported.

The Population and Immigration Authority, acting on instructions from Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, denied entry to Swedish Left Party MEPs Jonas Sjöstedt and Hanna Gedin, who had planned to visit the Palestinian National Authority.

According to Israeli media, Israeli authorities cited the lawmakers’ activities in recent years, including their support for pursuing international legal proceedings against Israel and their public statements accusing Israel of genocide, deliberate starvation and targeting children and medical personnel in Gaza.
