RAMALLAH, Thursday, April 20, 2023 (WAFA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates today condemned the Israeli colonial settlement activities in occupied Palestine, whether by building thousands of settlement units, as is the case in occupied Jerusalem, or by allocating millions of dollars for settlement infrastructure, or by seizing Palestinian land for settlement expansion, as was the case in Qalqilya and other places, and considered them an open warfare against the Palestinian people.
It also condemned, in a statement, the escalation in settler attacks against Palestinians, their lands, livestock, properties, homes, shops, and sanctities throughout the occupied West Bank.
The Ministry considered the deepening and expansion of settlements as deliberate Israeli sabotage of any opportunity to establish the State of Palestine on the ground, a disregard for international positions and resolutions that condemn settlements and demand an immediate cessation for them, and an open war on the Palestinian people and their rights.
It warned that the absence of an international will to implement the relevant United Nations resolutions on this matter, especially Resolution 2334, encourages the occupying state to escalate settlements, a most heinous form of aggression and crime that undermine the foundations and pillars of the peace process and a negotiated political solution to the conflict, and a cause for an escalation in the cycle of violence in the area.
