Israeli forces threaten to expand military offensive in Hebron

HEBRON, November 1, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces have threatened to expand their military offensive in the city of Hebron, south of the occupied West Bank, which has remained under siege for the tenth consecutive day, according to local sources.

As the aggression enters its tenth day, additional families have been forced to leave the area surrounding Al-Quds Open University in Hebron. Israeli forces have also imposed movement restrictions on residents in areas near al-Jalda and Deir Bahha neighbourhoods, raising fears that residents could be forced to leave their homes.

On the ground, Israeli forces reinforced their deployment in areas they had declared closed and announced, through statements and loudspeakers, that their military offensive in the city would continue. Displaced families fear that the forces may extend their presence in Palestinian neighborhoods beyond the upcoming Shabbat Chayei Sarah, scheduled for next Saturday.

The ongoing offensive has displaced or otherwise affected more than 3,300 Palestinians, particularly in the al-Jalda and Ain Deir Bahha areas. It has also resulted in the complete demolition of 15 homes and other structures, economic losses, damage to infrastructure, and disruption to education.

According to figures released by the Hebron Municipality on Saturday, Israeli forces had completely demolished 15 homes and other structures and closed 327 businesses in the city. Direct daily economic losses caused by the offensive have exceeded 12 million shekels (approximately $3.8 million).

The municipality estimated total infrastructure losses at more than $1.9 million, while losses in the health and environmental sectors reached around $160,000.

The ongoing offensive has also prevented approximately 80,000 students from attending school in the city for the tenth consecutive day.
