Sick Palestinian prisoners at Gilboa prison face deteriorating health conditions amid medical neglect

RAMALLAH, November 1, 2026 (WAFA) – The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs said sick Palestinian prisoners at Israel's Gilboa prison are facing serious health conditions amid continued medical neglect and the failure to provide necessary healthcare and treatment.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the commission said conditions inside the prison had not improved and remained unchanged.

It cited prisoner Ahmad Nayef as an example of the suffering endured by sick detainees. He has suffered from back problems since before his detention, following herniated discs in three vertebrae—the third, fourth, and fifth—as well as migraines and fungal skin infections.

The commission said Nayef had not received the medical treatment required for his conditions, raising concerns that continued denial of appropriate healthcare could further worsen his health.

It warned that the absence of necessary medical care was intensifying the suffering of sick prisoners and exposing their health and lives to increasing risks. The commission called for them to receive medical treatment and the necessary examinations without delay.
