UAE condemns Israel's decision to allow resettlement in northern West Bank, approval of new settlement units

ABU DHABI, Sunday, March 26, 2023 (WAFA) - The United Arab of Emirates (UAE) strongly condemned Israel's decision to allow resettlements in the northern occupied West Bank and its authorization to build new settlement units in the occupied Palestinian territories.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) affirmed the UAE's rejection of all practices that violate the resolutions of international legitimacy and threaten to further exacerbate the escalation and instability in the region.

The Ministry stressed the need to support all regional and international efforts to advance the peace process in the Middle East, as well as to put an end to illegal practices that threaten the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Contrary to its commitment at the Sharm El-Sheikh summit, the Israeli government published tenders for a total of 1,029 housing units in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, revealed the settlement watch group Peace Now in a new report on Friday.
