RAMALLAH, Monday, November 2, 2020 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation measures in the West Bank and the US elections were, among others, highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today.
Al-Ayyam daily said the occupation army raided several areas in the West Bank and dozens of settlers broke into Al-Aqsa Mosque.
It said the Israeli municipality of West Jerusalem has approved a huge settlement plan referred to as Silicon Valley in Wadi al-Joz area of occupied East Jerusalem, which will be built in place of the industrial zone in the Palestinian neighborhood.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said the Israeli army raided a number of towns and villages and ordered the removal of a tent in the Jordan Valley.
Al-Quds daily said settlers established a new outpost east of Bethlehem and sabotaged a nursery while the army razed land.
The main front-page story in al-Quds touched on the US elections, which it said will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, as both candidates, Donald Trump and Joe Biden, publish a large number of tweets.
The main front-page story in al-Hayat al-Jadida quoted Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh telling the Swiss ambassador to Palestine that going to elections in Palestine is a strategic choice.
It quoted Fatah official Jibril Rjoub in another story saying that Fatah is working on building a national partnership through dialogue.
It said the European Union contributed 10 million euros to Palestinian salaries and pensioners for September.
The situation of Palestinian hunger striker in Israeli prisons, Maher al-Akhras, after almost 100 days of fast demanding his release from prison, were given prominence in the three dailies.
The papers said the health situation of al-Akhras is getting very critical and he could die at any moment.
Coronavirus at home, in the region and abroad, was also highlighted on the front page of the three dailies.
Al-Quds said 103 years have passed for the infamous Balfour Declaration that promised a homeland for Jews in Palestine at the expense of its Palestinian population.
