RAMALLAH, September 16, 2026 (WAFA) — The Palestinian Presidency condemned the heinous attacks targeting Mecca with a drone, that was intercepted and destroyed by the Saudi Royal Air Defense Forces before it entered the airspace of the holy city.
In a statement, the Presidency affirmed that targeting Mecca, the direction of prayer for Muslims and a city held dear to their hearts, constitutes a serious criminal act and a flagrant violation of the sanctity of Islamic holy sites, as well as a threat to the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the safety of its citizens, residents, and pilgrims.
The Presidency stressed that the State of Palestine, including its leadership, government, and people, stands with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in confronting anything that threatens its security, sovereignty, and stability.
It affirmed that the security of Saudi Arabia and the two holy mosques is a red line, and that their security is an integral part of Arab and Islamic national security.
