ABU DHABI, February 23, 2010 (WAFA)- The Palestinian women football team went on goals spree against Kuwait, drubbing them 17-0 at the women’s West Asian Championship at the Military Stadium yesterday.
The result keeps Palestine in the competition after they were beaten by the UAE 4-2 in their Group B opener on Saturday.
Wafaa Hussein led the assault with seven goals while Caroline Sohgian and Natalie Shaheen snared four each, and Ayah al Khatib and Nadin Owda one completed the rout.
In a game that was contrast to the one that followed, Bahrain edged out Iran 1-0 in Group A to keep their hopes alive after going down to the defending champions Jordan 4-1 in the opener.
