RAMALLAH, April 29, 2007, (WAFA)-PLO National and International Relations Department warned Sunday of a humanitarian disaster may strike the Palestinian society due to the continued international siege imposed on the Palestinian people.

In a statement, it revealed that 60% of Palestinians are living by $ 2 per day and 35% of citizens in the West Bank and Gaza Strip become the victims of the lack of food insecurity, while child mortality rate increased by 15%.

It called on the EU states to take an immediate decision to end the economic crises that plaguing the Palestinian society, which is getting worse because of the suspension of donor states the direct financial aid to the government and the continued Israeli aggressions against Palestinian civilians.

It called for releasing the held of taxes levied on behalf of the Palestinian National Authority crossings and customs duties which form the basis of local revenues to the Palestinian government.
