President Abbas Thanks Chirac for his Support
PARIS, April 17, 2007 (WAFA) - President Mahmoud Abbas thanked on Tuesday his French counterpart, Jacques Chirac for his supporting stances towards the Palestinian people and their just cause.
President Abbas told reporters following his meeting with Chirac Paris that he thanked the French President and people for their support to the Palestinian people.
President Abbas added that he briefed Chirac on the results of the Riyadh Summit and the reactivation of the Arab peace initiative.
He also briefed Mr. Chirac on the deteriorated economic situation in the Palestinian territory as a result of the siege imposed on the Palestinian people, pointing out that President Chirac showed sympathy to break the siege.
President Abbas also told reporters that in case the siege is not lifted, fanaticism will increase and this will have grave consequences.
