Weather: With low-pressure front still affecting area; temperature 8°C below average

 

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, May 6, 2020 (WAFA) – With the low pressure cold front still affecting the area for the second day in a row, temperature is expected to become 8°C below the annual average, said the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Rain, thunderstorms and hail are expected to subside by the afternoon hours, said the PMD.

Active and sometime high westerly winds are expected with high sea waves.

Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 17°C and a low of 9°C and in Ramallah and Hebron, a high of 16°C and a low of 8°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 24°C and a low of 15°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 20°C and a low of 12°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

Spring conditions return on Thursday with a significant rise in temperature, which nevertheless remains below the annual average, said the PMD.

Another significant rise in temperature is expected for Friday to become above the annual average.

However, temperature drops again significantly on Saturday to become 5°C below the season’s average. Scattered rain is expected to resume.

People are warned today of slippery roads and low horizontal visibility due to the formation of fog and low clouds.
