Weather: Cold front affects the region; temperature drops significantly; rain resumes

 

RAMALLAH, Tuesday, May 5, 2020 (WAFA) – A significant drop in temperature is expected today to become 6°C below the annual average as a low pressure cold front affects the region at night bringing with it scattered rain, thunderstorms and occasional hail, said the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Moderate to active and sometime high westerly to northwesterly winds are expected with medium to high sea waves.

Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 21°C and a low of 10°C and in Ramallah and Hebron, a high of 20°C and a low of 9°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 28°C and a low of 16°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 21°C and a low of 14°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

Temperature drops further on Wednesday to become 8°C below the annual average. Rain is expected on most areas until the afternoon hours.

Spring conditions return on Thursday with a significant rise in temperature, which nevertheless remains below the annual average, said the PMD.

Another rise in temperature is expected for Friday to become around the annual average.

People are warned on Tuesday and Wednesday of floods in valley and low areas, high winds that could reach 60 kilometers per hour, slippery roads and low horizontal visibility due to the formation of fog and low clouds.
