RAMALLAH, Monday, May 4, 2020 (WAFA) - Palestine confirmed Monday evening two new coronavirus cases, raising the total number of confirmed cases in the occupied territories to 524.
Speaking in the daily evening briefing in Ramallah, Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh said that one Palestinian in As-Samou‘ town, south of Hebron city, and another in Jerusalem city tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
She added that 25 COVID-19 patients have recovered at the ministry-run quarantine centers. They included 15 patients in Ramallah, seven others in Bethlehem, three others in the Hebron-district town of Halhul and 12 others in Jerusalem city.
She noted that the condition of all current patients was stable and that none was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and that the current number of active patients still infected with the virus totaled 389 in the northern governorates, including 219 cases in Jerusalem, and 5 cases in the southern governorates.
She also noted that Palestinian workers in Israel and Israeli colonial settlements infected with the deadly virus and others who contracted the virus through coming in contact with them accounted for 75 percent of the total number of confirmed cases.
She pointed out that 1,136 suspected cases were placed in ministry-run quarantine centers, raising the current total number of cases in quarantine to 15,179, while some 40,000 suspected cases were released from home quarantine.
