RAMALLAH, Tuesday, April 28, 2020 (WAFA) – Palestine confirmed Tuesday evening six new coronavirus cases, raising the total number of confirmed cases in the occupied territories to 501.
Speaking in the daily briefing in Ramallah, Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh said that one Palestinian in Bir Nabala town, northeast of Jerusalem, tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
She identified the other five cases as that of two Palestinians in the Ras Khamis area in Shufat refugee camp, two others in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan, and another in Jerusalem’s Old City.
She added that the number of active COVID-19 cases in the occupied territories was 402, including six cases in the southern governorates, 255 cases in Jerusalem governorate.
The 255 cases in Jerusalem governorate include 132 cases inside the Israeli-imposed borders of Jerusalem.
She elaborated that the health ministry has conducted 30,500 tests since the pandemic outbreak, and set up another testing laboratory in Hebron governorate, raising total of six accredited testing laboratories to six, which have the capacity to carry out 5,000 tests on a daily basis.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ministry announced that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases and deaths among Palestinians in the diaspora increased to 1,021 and 60 respectively.
