RAMALLAH, Monday, March 30, 2020 (WAFA) – The press conference yesterday by Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh in which he outlined the situation in all its aspects, mainly economic, in Palestine was the main front-page story of two of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies today, while the third highlighted the corona cases.
The headline in al-Quds daily quoted Shtayyeh saying ‘We will work with an austerity budget and medical supplies are arriving from China.”
The headline in al-Hayat al-Jadida also referred to the austerity budget but added that government revenues will decrease by 50 percent.
The third daily, al-Ayyam, also reported on the press conference, but lower on the page and highlighted as its main story the new corona cases confirmed in the West Bank yesterday.
The three papers continued to focus on their front page on news about coronavirus at home, in the region and around the world.
In other news, al-Quds highlighted Land Day anniversary and said in another story that Israeli settlers are turning St. John monastery in the old city of Jerusalem into a Jewish settlement in the heart of the Old City market area.
Al-Ayyam said Microsoft has withdrawn its investments in an Israeli company that used its technology to spy on Palestinians in the occupied territories.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida also highlighted President Mahmoud Abbas condemning the missile attack on Saudi Arabia.
It reported on Palestinian banks making contributions to the government to help it deal with the economic consequences of the coronavirus pandemic.
