JENIN, Sunday, March 29, 2020 (WAFA) – Palestinian political prisoner in Israeli jails Abdul-Karim Rateb Eweis completes today 18 years behind Israeli prison bars, said the Palestinian Prisoner Society.

Ewies, who comes from Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank, was arrested on March 29, 2002, and was sentenced to two life sentences and an additional 20 years for his activism in the armed resistance against the Israeli occupation. His family‘s home was demolished prior to his arrest as a collective punishment against his entire family.  

Eweis has also been denied family visits at many times by the Israeli occupation authorities as a punishment.

The Israeli occupation is still incarcerating more than 5,000 Palestinian and Arab prisoners for resisting its occupation of their homeland.
