Israeli forces raze lands, set up caravans near Nablus

NABLUS, Wednesday, July 17, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli forces today razed Palestinian lands and set up caravans in Huwwara town, located to the south of Nablus city, in the northern West Bank.

Ghassan Daghlas, an official who monitors settlement activities in the northern West Bank, said that Israeli bulldozers razed a large tract of lands in al-Naqqar area in Huwwara town before setting up several mobile homes at the site.

Razing Palestinian land is one of a myriad of restrictions taken under the guise of security for the purpose of entrenching Israel’s 52-year-old military occupation of the West Bank and its settler colonial project which it enforces with routine and frequently deadly violence against Palestinians.

Between 500,000 and 600,000 Israelis live in Jewish-only settlements across occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank in violation of international law.

All settlements across the West Bank are illegal under international law, particularly article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which establishes that the occupying power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.
