Palestinian man dies at Israeli checkpoint near Jerusalem

JERUSALEM, Friday, May 17, 2019 (WAFA) – A Palestinian man died today at an Israeli checkpoint at Bethlehem-Jerusalem road while he was in the way to Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem, medical sources told WAFA.

Sulaiman Jamal Hroub, 63, died from a stroke which resulted from the overcrowding caused by Israeli movement restrictions at the checkpoint.

Israel bans entry of Palestinians from the occupied West Bank to the holy city of Jerusalem throughout the year, except on the Fridays of the holy month of Ramadan. This causes overcrowding of worshipers who gather in large numbers to get a chance to pray in the Al-Aqsa Mosque in the city.
