RAMALLAH, September 16, 2026 (WAFA) - The Ministry of Public Works and Housing said it is continuing its response and rescue efforts following the collapse of a residential building in Gaza City.

The ministry said its teams are coordinating with international partners, municipalities and relevant authorities to provide machinery and equipment to help remove rubble, clear roads and reach affected areas, supporting efforts to rescue those trapped and recover the bodies of the dead.

It warned of the dangerous humanitarian and field conditions in the Gaza Strip, with more than 2,000 damaged buildings at risk of collapse, piles of rubble and difficulties reaching a number of areas, posing growing risks to the lives of citizens, particularly as winter approaches.

The ministry stressed that addressing these risks requires heavy machinery and equipment, fuel and necessary materials to enable specialized teams to remove rubble, clear roads, assess damage and address the risks posed by damaged buildings, while continuing to provide temporary shelter solutions for displaced and affected families.
