Three Palestinian prisoners suffer deteriorating health conditions in Israeli Ofer prison

RAMALLAH, November 8, 2026 (WAFA) – The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs reported on Sunday that three Palestinian prisoners held in Israel's Ofer prison are suffering from deteriorating health and living conditions amid continued medical neglect and delays in providing necessary treatment.

In a statement, the commission said the prisoners were experiencing worsening skin diseases and various forms of pain due to inadequate medical care.

It identified the prisoners as Kamal Fayed Hosni, Amir Daghra and Adam Abu Obeid, all of whom have been suffering from scabies for varying periods.

According to the commission, Hosni has been suffering from scabies for more than three months, with boils spreading across his body. Although he received treatment approximately a week ago, his condition has shown no significant improvement.

He also suffers from severe bone pain because he is forced to sleep on the floor due to a shortage of mattresses. His irritable bowel syndrome has also worsened because of the poor quality of food provided to prisoners, particularly the repeated reliance on white bread.

Daghra has been suffering from an advanced case of scabies for more than two months. Although he received treatment twice, in the form of capsules and ointment, and his condition improved somewhat, he still urgently needs to complete the prescribed treatment to prevent a relapse.

Abu Obeid has been suffering from scabies for approximately six months, with boils spreading across his body. The prison administration reportedly provides treatment for scabies but refuses to treat the widespread boils.

The commission added that Abu Obeid had recently begun experiencing nervous convulsions. Following medical examinations, the prison administration attributed the symptoms to stress and prescribed only sedatives, without providing treatment addressing the underlying condition.

The commission held the Israeli Prison Service fully responsible for the lives and health of prisoners at Ofer and other detention facilities, warning of the continued deterioration of medical and living conditions, the spread of skin diseases and the failure to provide effective treatment.
