TEL AVIV, November 8, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli President Isaac Herzog formally tasked Gadi Eizenkot, leader of the "Yashar" party, with forming a government this Sunday evening.

This decision follows Eizenkot securing the recommendations of 67 Knesset members, compared to 46 for Netanyahu.

It comes after consultations held by Herzog to assess the candidates' prospects and the divisions among the various parties—a process that has faced persistent obstacles in forming a governing coalition, despite Eizenkot’s lead in the number of recommendations.
