Israeli forces attack activists, journalists, remove protest tent in Sur Baher

JERUSALEM, Thursday, July 11, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli forces today attacked activists who set up a  tent on the West Bank side of Sur Baher neighborhood southeast of Jerusalem to protest Israeli plans to demolish hundreds of apartments in the area for being built too close to the separation wall, according to witnesses.

The soldiers fired teargas at the activists and residents causing suffocation cases among them and fire in nearby fields. They also removed the tent and attacked journalists who were covering the events, they said.

The tent was set up this morning by the activists in an area of Sur Baher called Wadi al-Hummos as a show of solidarity with the homeowners who may see their homes demolished in one week after an Israeli court gave the green light to the army to demolish 16 buildings housing 100 apartments for being built too close to the wall.
