JENIN, Wednesday, June 5, 2019 (WAFA) – A Palestinian Tuesday evening was injured after struck by a bullet fired by Israeli forces following military drills in Rummana village, west of Jenin.
Local sources confirmed that Rushdi Zuheir al-Ahmad, 57, was hit by an Israeli military bullet as Israeli forces were conducting drills in the nearby military camp of Salem.
Al-Amhad, who was heading to a local mosque for evening prayer, sustained an injury in his shoulder. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment.
Israeli forces have confiscated parts of the Rummana’s lands to expand the shooting range used during their drills.
The Israeli military has systematically conducted trainings near Palestinian farming and residential communities, especially in the northern West Bank, and have designated large swaths of Palestinian land as closed military zones.
Israel utilizes military drills in addition to other measures taken under the guise of security as a means to seize Palestinian land and build settlements in violation of international law, which establishes that the occupying power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.
