RAMALLAH, September 30, 2026 (WAFA) — Vice President of the State of Palestine Hussein al-Sheikh welcomed the International Committee of the Red Cross’s call for urgent protection for the Palestinian people amid what he described as repeated policies and measures of ethnic cleansing and acts of terrorism.
In press remarks on Thursday, al-Sheikh called on the international community to take serious action to provide international protection for the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territory.
The ICRC had warned of the consequences of escalating violence, movement restrictions, and settlement expansion in the West Bank, saying these practices have severely harmed civilians, obstructed patients’ access to healthcare and students’ access to schools, and isolated residents from their homes and livelihoods.
The ICRC called for the protection of civilians, respect for international humanitarian law, an end to violence, and a halt to settlement expansion.
