RAMALLAH, October 1, 2026 (WAFA) — The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the attack carried out by Israeli colonists, under the protection and support of Israeli occupation forces, on Yasuf village in the central West Bank, which resulted in the murder of 51-year-old Mashhour Shaher Yassin and the injury of another Palestinian.
In a statement on Thursday evening, the ministry said the crime reflects clear coordination between Israeli colonists and occupation forces, constituting a flagrant violation of international law, norms and humanitarian principles.
The ministry said Yassin's killing comes amid a dangerous and ongoing escalation in organized colonist violence, carried out under the protection and support of Israeli forces. It said the attacks form part of an official Israeli policy that allows colonists to carry out violence against Palestinians and their property, including killings, shootings and assaults.
The ministry called on the international community and its institutions to assume their legal and moral responsibilities, provide protection for the Palestinian people and take immediate, practical measures to end colonist violence in the occupied West Bank.
It also called for activating accountability mechanisms against those responsible for the attacks and those supporting them, including imposing sanctions on settlement leaders and colonists and banning dealings with settlements, their institutions, associations and affiliated companies.
