RAMALLAH, October 1, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli colonists razed on Thursday Palestinian-owned land in the village of Umm Safa, northwest of Ramallah.
Umm Safa Village Council head Marwan Sabah told WAFA that colonists’ bulldozers leveled land in the Wadi al-Zeitoun area and near the cemetery south of the village.
He added that Israeli forces have continued, for the fifth consecutive day, to surround the home of local resident Mohammad al-Obaiyat in an attempt to force him to leave, as the house is adjacent to a settlement outpost. The forces have also prevented residents from reaching the village cemetery.
Sabah said settlers colonists had seized hundreds of dunums of land in the southern part of the area and established a settlement outpost on Palestinian-owned land two months ago.
He warned of a plan to displace village residents and establish a large settlement, noting that six settlement outposts have been established in the village since October 7, 2023.
Umm Safa has repeatedly come under attacks by colonists from nearby settlements and outposts built on Palestinian-owned land, causing extensive damage to property and restricting residents’ access to their lands.
