RAMALLAH, Sunday, September 08, 2019 (WAFA) – Palestinian Arabic dailies focused today on the Israeli airstrikes which targeted several locations in the Gaza Strip last night.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said Israel airplanes and artillery carried out multiple airstrikes targeting several locations across the Gaza Strip. There were no reports of casualties, yet the airstrikes caused fear among local citizens.
Al-Quds said an Israeli armored vehicle was bombed by an unmanned aircraft belonging to Palestinian resistance groups near the border with the Gaza Strip.
On a different subject, al-Hayat al-Jadida quoted in its main headline President Mahmoud Abbas as saying that, “We reject any projects or plans not based on the foundations of the peace process.”
Al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Ayyam said Israeli army imposed strict measures and set up checkpoints at the entrance to the West Bank town of Azzun yesterday, after two Israeli settlers were allegedly stabbed and injured by a teenager from the town.
The two dailies quoted Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh as saying that, “Land in Palestine is not a real estate, but rather an identity and home.”
Al-Ayyam said the Israeli Ministry of Transportation started expanding the “tunnels street” connecting occupied Jerusalem with the Gush Etzion settlement bloc near Bethlehem.
