RAMALLAH, Monday, September 02, 2019 (WAFA) - A total of 2,241 building licenses were issued in Palestine in the second quarter of 2019, which included 1,358 for new buildings, a decrease by 14% compared with the first quarter of the same year and a decrease by 2% compared with the second quarter of 2018, today said the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS).

The area of licensed buildings (residential and non-residential) totaled 960,000 square meters, of which new buildings made up 716,000 square meters and existing buildings comprised 244,000 square meters.

The total number of licensed dwellings was 4,236 with a total area of 676,000 square meters, of which 3,076 were new dwellings with a total area of 493,000 square meters and 1,160 were existing dwellings with a total area of 183,000 square meters.

The number of new dwellings in the second quarter of 2019 decreased by 29% compared with the first quarter of 2019 and decreased by 7% compared with the second quarter of 2018.
