NABLUS/HEBRON, Tuesday, March 12, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli settlers uprooted dozens of olive trees in the village of Burin in the north of the occupied West Bank and another settler assaulted a Palestinian activist in the south of the West Bank, according to local sources.

Burin farmers said they found out when they went to their lands adjacent to the illegal Israeli settlement of Yitzhar that nearly 30 olive trees about 70 years old each have been chopped.

They accused settlers from Yitzhar of the vandalism, which they said was not the first time they have done it.

Meanwhile, an extremist Jewish settler assaulted an activist in Shuhada Street, in the Israeli occupied section of the Palestinian city of Hebron, while soldiers were watching, said the activist.

Ahmad al-Izza, 20, active in the Youth Against Settlements movement in Hebron, told WAFA that a settler who is known for his racist views and violent behavior, severely assaulted him while he was near his house as Israeli soldiers were watching and did nothing.

He said he received bruises in the head in addition to being verbally insulted by the settler.

Palestinians are not allowed to defend themselves if attacked by settlers anywhere in the occupied territories. Defending oneself could be a justification for being shot dead under the pretext of attacking an Israeli.
