TEL AVIV, June 4, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli authorities have decided to deport two female tourists, one Swedish and the other Irish, over their display of solidarity with the Palestinian people.
The two women were detained by Israeli forces in the southern Hebron area late last week following a complaint filed by colonists. They were accused of violating a "military order" issued by the so-called "commander of the central region" of the Israeli army, on the grounds that they engaged in "anti-Israel activities" and allegedly entered a military training zone near the colony of Avigail, built illegally on Palestinian-owned land.
The tourists were held at an Israeli police station in Hebron before Israeli authorities issued an order banning them from the West Bank for 15 days and subjected them to interrogation. A decision was then made to deport them from the country.
One of the tourists has appealed the deportation order, and both were transferred to Givon detention center pending a decision on the appeal.
In recent months, Israel, the occupying power, has denied entry to numerous tourists and foreign political figures, including members of parliament from various countries, on the grounds of their support for the Palestinian position opposing the ongoing genocide in Gaza and the settler and military assaults in the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem.
