Israeli forces detain Palestinian resident as colonist vandalizes property near Bethlehem

BETHLEHEM, September 5, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli forces detained a Palestinian resident from the Bethlehem governorate on Saturday, while an Israeli colonist vandalized civilian property in the Khalayel al-Louz area, southeast of the city.

A security source told WAFA that Israeli forces detained Karim Asakreh while he was passing through the Container military checkpoint, east of Bethlehem.

Separately, a colonist raided the vicinity of the Suwais family’s home in Khalayel al-Louz with his livestock, tampered with the family’s property, and broke several trees surrounding the house.

Khalayel al-Louz and nearby villages and communities southeast of Bethlehem have been subjected to repeated colonist attacks, including assaults on Palestinian homes, the destruction of crops and trees, and the grazing of livestock on agricultural land, in what residents describe as efforts to pressure Palestinians and force them off their land.
